Andrew Drury- scraped and toyed-with percussion, from Brooklyn
A night of free radio and free music: free103point9 transmission artist Anna
Friz favours instruments that breathe and oscillate; employing accordion,
concertina, harmonica, theremin, radio samples, ambient field recordings, and
voice to conjure unusual sonic spaces. For Chicago sound artist Eric
Leonardson instruments lie in the detritus of everyday life. He employs a self-made
instrument that he calls the Springboard, an electroacoustic percussion
instrument made from inexpensive and readily available materials. Joining them will
be a duo with legendary saxophonist Jack Wright and percussionist Andrew
Drury. Members of the NYSAE, Edmund Mooney, Andrea William and Andrea Callard
will play field recordings.

Co-hosted by _The New York Society for Acoustic Ecology (NYSAE)_
(http://www.nyacousticecology.org/) , a membership organization dedicated to exploring
and promoting public dialog concerning sound in NYC, _free103point9 _
(http://www.free103point9.org/) is a nonprofit arts organization focused on
establishing and cultivating the genre Transmission Arts by promoting artists who
explore ideas around transmission as a medium for creative expression.

Anna Friz and Eric Leonardson

ANNA FRIZ is a sound and radio artist who divides her time between Montreal
and Toronto. Since 1998 she has predominantly created self-reflexive radio
art for broadcast, installation or performance, where radio is the source,
subject, and medium of the work. She also employs instruments and electronics to
create dynamic, atmospheric works equally able to reflect upon public media
culture or to reveal interior landscapes. Anna is a free103point9 transmission
artists.

ERIC LEONARDSON has been performing in Chicago since 1982. He creates sound
for theater, film, and live performance with an invented instrument he calls
the Springboard. Leonardson's work has been described as "...ritualistic
music, electronically synthesized industrial vibrations miraculously created with
ordinary household objects...."—Carol Burbank, Chicago Reader

Jack Wright and Andrew Drury

JACK WRIGHT has been a saxophonist of strange music since the late 70's, and
one of the touring-est musicians around. He wears shorts in all kinds of
weather so he can mute against his bare leg, which is his trademark. In Europe
he finds like-minded players and lures them to the states. Known to play with
everyone, but actually he only plays with people who interest him musically,
which is still a lot. He may be obscure but he comes close to doing exactly
what he wants, and that is no simple matter for any of us.
ANDREW DRURY drums with people in homeless shelters, Indian
reservations, jazz and free improvisation venues, Central American
villages, juvenile "corrections", poor neighborhoods all over NYC, and an
Ivy League graduate school. His newest project is a percussion quartet
featuring Mike Pride, Michael Sarin, and Jim Black.
